Broadcast Technologist
Don Whitmore is a seasoned technology innovator with a rich background in live streaming, virtual reality, and creator platforms. His technical career began in computer engineering but soon pivoted toward live production, working with Pixel Corps during YouTube’s early live streaming stages and later supporting Facebook’s Live 2.0 API launch. Notable projects include leading technical execution for multiple Oculus Connect demos, including John Carmack’s live Q&A within Horizon World VR, helping create the first international space station live Q&A streams with NASA, Youtube, and Facebook, and executing Nokia’s OZO 4K 3D virtual reality live stream at NAB.
While at Meta, his team led Instagram’s productions for IGTV and top creators out of the New York City studios. Whitmore later joined Tom Brady’s NFT company, Autograph, where he engineered token-gated live streams and executed large-scale projects, including an innovative NFT activation at major music festivals like Hangout Fest and Electric Forest.
In addition to his technology expertise, Whitmore’s career started as a classically trained ballet dancer, where he performed professionally for nearly two decades. A specialist in ballet, jazz, and tap, he began his professional career at the age of 12 and danced until retiring at 30 due to a lifetime of injuries. This background in performance and creativity uniquely informs his work in technology, where he continues to combine artistry with innovation. Currently, Whitmore is leading the development of global Creator Studios, with a focus on broadcast engineering and creative infrastructure worldwide.
