Chief Innovation Officer and Visual Effects Supervisor
Jo Plaete is the chief innovation officer and visual effects supervisor at Metaphysic.ai, where he leads the integration of cutting-edge AI technologies into visual effects for film and live experiences. With nearly two decades of experience in VFX and post-production, Plaete has recently worked on generative AI implementations for renowned directors such as Robert Zemeckis (HERE), George Miller (Mad Max: Furiosa), and Fede Alvarez (Alien: Romulus). He has also collaborated with talents like Tom Hanks, Robin Wright, Eminem (Houdini/VMA), Drake (U.S. Tour), and Cai Guo-Qiang (TED2024).
Before joining Metaphysic.ai in 2022, Plaete held key positions at Walt Disney’s Industrial Light & Magic and Moving Picture Company, supervising visual effects for major productions including the ABBA: Voyage concert experience, Ready Player One, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, The Legend of Tarzan, Guardians of the Galaxy, and World War Z. His extensive experience positions him at the forefront of the convergence between virtual production and AI in the entertainment industry.
