The availability and affordability of media cloud offerings for the masses will be discussed by industry experts during the Studio Production & Post Track panel session “Media Cloud for the Masses,” at the second annual Silicon Valley Video Summit (SVVS), Jan. 23.

Among the key questions that will be addressed are: What cloud offerings fit the needs of the mid-to-smaller level budgets? And where is the entry-level where the practice becomes cost-efficient?

The panel will be moderated by Michael Vovk, Deloitte Consulting managing director / lead. He is a technical expert in compute, storage, networking, and enterprise technology; and he has led projects ranging from $1 million to $200 million in size and scale globally with teams in the hundreds.

Most recently, Vovk delivered the transition of a large-scale regional sports network via M&A activity and transformed the delivery of the technology to increase efficiency and simplicity in operations.

“There are general cloud questions that typically come up in this industry and outside this industry,” according to Vovk, who pointed to operating expenses and capital expenses discussions. There are a variety of different questions about how you structure the cloud, what type of instances you use, what type of skill sets are you going to need in the cloud to make it more cost effective and to manage it?”

Panelists will include Tom Carlisle, cloud innovation leader for Diversified;
Richard Duke, Avid Technology chief cloud solutions architect; and
Kiran Patel, head of product marketing-media services at AWS; and Andre Rievers, OpenDrives VP of Operations.

Dedicated to the working needs of Big Tech and Bay Area broadcasters and video professionals, the Jan. 23 event is again being title-sponsored by Advanced Systems Group (ASG) and B&H Photo.
