Ed McNichol is the video operations manager (Contract) for the Ocean Exploration Trust. In this role, he manages all aspects of the shipboard video system. This includes staffing, video engineering, policies, and procedural checklists to ensure delivery of dritical digital assets.

McNichol is a dedicated communications technology professional with four decades of global video expertise. He is an avid scuba diver and Divemaster based in Seattle. He combines both of these interests through his work supporting deep sea research and exploration using Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs). McNichol has served as an onboard video operations manager and mission photographer on more than 60 international expeditions working with 10 different vehicles. His specialties include designing, building, and operating sophisticated shipboard video systems in a mobile form factor. These systems perform a multitude of mission critical functions, including recording and archiving of video and audio assets with embedded metadata, producing live satellite streaming with interactive webcasts and video production services.

McNichol also has experience in best practices for digital asset management and protection, as well as event logging. He enjoys capturing dynamic still photos that feature shipboard mission operations while including rich metadata.
